John Benner of CapNorth
John comes to CapNorth from the commercial banking industry after 10 years, where he served as the Director of Commercial Lending. Over the past 10 years, John has worked on all facets of commercial real estate, with additional focus on creative financing options and affordable housing throughout the Puget Sound Region, Central and Eastern Washington. Through his time working with real estate professionals and business owners, John excels at getting to know each of his clients and understanding their full financial picture before creating individualized solutions to meet their needs.
John currently resides in Spokane, WA and is involved in the local community. John graduated from Gonzaga University in 2014 with a Bachelor of Business Administration, concentrating in Finance and Operations.

We provide sophisticated financing solutions by leveraging our expansive capital network through our proprietary capital database “CapDrive”. Our team of Debt and Equity professionals came from an institutional background with a goal to provide institutional level experience to the private sector. CapNorth’s team has been involved in $5.5B of transactional volume, with experience across all levels of the capital stack. Last year we placed $408M across the following loan/lender types:
Equity/Loan Guaranty Program
At CapNorth we have the unique capability to provide loan guarantees for a fee. This feature allows our partners to utilize a balance sheet that will allow them to get the most aggressive pricing in the market, especially for construction projects that require significant net worth and liquidity covenants.
In-house Capital
CapNorth has a discretionary fund called CapNorth Credit Fund, LP (“CCF”) for providing senior, mezzanine debt and preferred equity for projects where larger institutions don’t typically show up. Check sizes range from $250,000 to $5,000,000. This is especially unique for borrowers that are working on smaller construction projects, but their local lender isn’t able to achieve the desired leverage. CCF can help fill that gap.
